Vidal Mejia Vidal Mejia has being empowering students at Chandler High School for 13 years. He has introduced thousands of students to courses in technical education, business, technology, economics and TV production. Vidal has also been a wrestling coach for over 20 years. Being part of his wrestling team constantly reminds students of their responsibilities to themselves as well as their families, teammates, coaches, school and community. Vidal has been more than an educator to his students; he has been a friend who provides countless hours and resources to low-income families. In addition, he shares his knowledge of technology, computers and TV production with the school’s faculty and staff. Vidal has overcome many obstacles during his life. His parents were farm workers, and his mother was only able to attain a fourth grade education. The sixth of seven children, Vidal learned the importance of education and overcame obstacles to achieve his goals. He excelled in school and sometimes helped his siblings with their school assignments. Although his parents were uneducated, they were always supportive of his schoolwork and activities. Vidal served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve after high school and completed Engineering School. He received several awards for commendable service and earned the rank of Sergeant. Vidal completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Education at ASU in 1996. Both Vidal and his wife both earned their Master’s Degrees from Northern Arizona University in 2001 while raising a family of three. Always committed to his students, Vidal has coached thousand of students in wrestling over the past 25 years. For the last eight years, he has being the varsity wrestling coach for Chandler High School and also has been the director of the Chandler Wrestling Club for the past nine years. Vidal has taken on the extra responsibilities of serving in a leadership position in the Arizona USA Wrestling as Secretary and currently as the International Director. Mr. Vidal has positively impacted his
fellow students, faculty, family and community members throughout his
years of faithfully teaching and coaching. |
